Of course we have been given the tools to pass this test. Specifically moral agency. We have received moral agency to choose the right, to do good, and to become whatever God intends for us to become. The fundamental purposes for the gift of agency are to love one another and to choose God. Commandments are not restrictions. They are a chance to exercise our moral agency. To choose what is right.
J.K. Rowling demonstrated this concept in her books Harry Potter. In book 6 it is explained in this way.
“It was, he thought, the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew - and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents - that there was all the difference in the world.”
